Four Qualify for Deutsche Bank Championship; Haas, Nallen, Vana and Sisk Earn Spots

Bill Haas, son of Jay Haas, turned in the best round of the day in the New England PGA Sectional qualifier as he shot a seven-under 65 to earn one of the four remaining spots in The Deutsche Bank Championship.

Haas, who hails from Greenville, SC, birdied six of the first seven holes and had nine birdies and two bogies on the day.  Three players tied for second, three shots back at 68 and also earned spots in the tournament, which begins Friday at the TPC Boston in Norton, MA.  Geoff Sisk of Marshfield, MA, Chris Nallen of Hackettstown, NJ and amateur Frank Vana of Marlboro, MA were part of the lucky threesome.  The tournament was held at Stow Acres North Course and played to a par 72 and 7,007 yards.

The Deutsche Bank Championship sponsor exemptions for the tournament are:  James Driscoll, Brian Henninger, Phillip Price, Greg Chalmers, Camilo Villegas, Casey Wittenberg, Trevor Immelmann and Marcel Siem.

Brad Faxon and Tim Wakefield�s team captured the Deutsche Bank Boston Red Sox Pro-Am on Monday at the TPC Boston.  Faxon, Wakefield, Seth Waugh, Shawn Martin and Bill Scannell shot a two best-ball total of 124, 18-under-par to win the event by five strokes.  The event benefited the Boston Red Sox Foundation.

Mark Brooks, Sam Horn, Rich Clarke, Jack Choi and Bill Barbera finished second at 129 and Tom Pernice, Ron Jackson, Bill Purington, Mike Ashwood and Tim Arborio finished third at 130 and minus 12.

Tickets for the tournament are still available and can be purchased by visiting the official Championship website at www.deutschebankchampionship.com or by calling TicketMaster at (866) GOLF-TIX or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.  Tickets are also available at the gate.  Tickets are $25 per day for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and $45 per day for Friday through Monday.

Practice rounds for the Deutsche Bank Championship will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 31, and Wednesday, Sept. 1, with a pro-am competition on Thursday, Sept. 2.  The four-day Championship begins Friday, Sept. 3, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6 � the only official Monday finish on the PGA TOUR. The first two rounds of the Championship will be covered on USA Network and the final two rounds will be televised on ABC-TV.
