Anaheim, Calif. On February 10, 2006, Tiger Woods will be joined by former President Bill Clinton, Southern California students, teachers and community leaders for the dedication of the Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC), an innovative youth-education facility located in Anaheim, California. The much anticipated event serves as the culmination of a four-year, $25 million campaign to transform Woods dream of creating an educational center to inspire and support the career exploration of students.

The celebration begins with a press conference at 11:00 a.m. in the Tiger Woods Learning Center auditorium, followed by a dedication ceremony at noon. The ceremony will feature remarks from Woods, Clinton, and local officials, and will culminate in tours of the facility. Media credentials are required. To apply call 212-981-5283.

The two-story, 35,000-square-foot center will provide 4th - 12th grade students with critically important free interactive enrichment programs in reading, math, science and technology. Specific classes promote career exploration and preparation in areas including forensic science, engineering, aerospace, video production and home design.

My goal for the TWLC is to provide students with a place to explore their dreams and open doors to new opportunities and potential career paths, Woods said. This is their center, and I hope it serves as a launching pad to great success.

Working closely with the school districts in the region, the full-time staff of educators has developed a series of programs that will augment their current school curriculum. In the first year alone, it is estimated that 3,000 students will take advantage of the TWLC and its resources.

This 14-acre campus was designed to provide students with access to the most interactive, technologically advanced equipment and curriculum. Each element of the TWLC will immerse students in a dynamic learning environment. For example:

Classrooms - Student instruction will take place in classrooms that incorporate various themes such as engineering, creative writing and life sciences.  Students will have access to 90 laptop computers with wireless capabilities enabling them to connect to the internet and complete technology-infused lessons.  Teachers will also utilize technology as a tool to deliver instruction, monitor student progress, and complete managerial tasks associated with teaching. Themed classrooms include: creative writing, communications, life science, aeronautics, robotics, engineering, multi-media and music composition.

Computer Lab - The Computer Lab, containing more than 100 computer stations, is designed in a cyber-village layout.  Each pre-wired station will be equipped with printers, docking stations and wireless laptops.  Students will be able to work on projects, receive tutoring/mentoring or engage in computer-based learning modules.

Lobby - The lobby area serves as the main entrance and waiting area for the TWLC.  Visitors will be greeted by the LCD Wall, a state-of-the-art video stream display highlighting TWLC activities and partners.  Participants can check-in virtually using a Smart ID card, while guests have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the facility using customized interactive kiosks.

Computer Clubhouse - The 1,200-square-foot multi-media center - complete with its own 45-inch LCD and advanced graphics software - will offer high-tech, content-rich programs in graphic design, animation, sound engineering, and video production on any of the room's 20 desktop computers.  A soundproof studio will also be accessible to students for music and voice-recording training.

Student Lounge - The student lounge, with its completely wireless environment, will enable TWLC participants to read, study or interact with learning kiosks in a casual meeting space.  Additionally, students may check-out learning equipment for personal and/or group use.

Auditorium - The auditorium space will be utilized for outreach programs, community workshops, lectures, large group presentations, video-conferencing, performances, meetings and interactive learning.  The room will seat over 200 people and feature advanced projectors, movie theater-type screens and a wireless environment.  The face of the auditorium is constructed of "photovoltaic panels" - full screened glass with the capability of generating power from sunlight.

Caf- Each day, the Caf will provide students in the day program with nutritional catered lunches which can be enjoyed outside on the terrace overlooking the driving range.  Snacks will be offered through a cashless system that allows students to use their ID cards to swipe and pay.

Board Room - With the capacity to seat 20, and the ability to accommodate technologically advanced presentations, the TWLC Board Room will be used for staff and board member meetings, trainings, and conferences.

Golf Instruction Area - Golf will be offered as a recreational option to students attending TWLC programs.  The grounds include a 10-acre driving range with 20 tee stations, as well as a 3-acre, 18-hole putting course.  Golf instruction will also serve as a character development tool, teaching students about rules, etiquette and good sportsmanship.
