TIGER WOODS, VIJAY SINGH, JOHN DALY, JIM FURYK JOIN DEFENDING CHAMPION ADAM SCOTT AT DEUTSCHE BANK CHAMPIONSHIP, AUG. 31 SEPT. 6

LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS AVAILABLE TO SEE POWERFUL FIELD AT TOURNAMENT PLAYERS CLUB OF BOSTON

Boston, Mass., Aug. 27, 2004 Reigning PGA Championship winner, Vijay Singh, joins three members of the United States Ryder Cup team No. 1-ranked Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and David Toms along with John Daly and defending champion Adam Scott for the Deutsche Bank Championship at the Tournament Players Club of Boston.

The 72-hole Championship, set for Aug. 31-Sept. 6, also presents golf fans with the only scheduled Monday finish on the PGA TOUR. The events charitable proceeds benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation, which promotes childrens health, education and welfare, along with a dozen New England based charities.

The Deutsche Bank Championship also announced that the Palmer Pavilion Michelob Ultra 19th Hole and both the Bay and Harbor corporate hospitality ticket packages for the Deutsche Bank Championship are sold out.  Fans interested in purchasing daily or weekly tickets to the event are urged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible, since a limited number are still available.  Attendance at the Deutsche Bank Championship is limited to 25,000 people per day.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the official Championship website at www.deutschebankchampionship.com or by calling TicketMaster at (866) GOLF-TIX or visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis for each day and are limited to 10 tickets per person.

Single-day tickets (grounds-only passes for individual days) can be purchased for any day. They are $25 per day for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and $45 per day for Friday through Monday.

Along with Woods, Singh, Furyk and Scott all of whom are ranked in the top 10 in the World Golf Rankings, those tickets entitle golf fans to see one of the most dynamic and popular golfers in the world in Daly. The long-hitting Daly, who currently ranks third in driving on the tour, has won more than $2 million this year with a win, a second place and five top-10 finishes in 17 events. It will mark Dalys first visit to the Deutsche Bank Championship.

As for Furyk, hes just getting back in the swing of things.  After two starts in January, he had to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage damage in his left wrist.  Furyk returned to action in late June and has earned $529,300 in eight tournaments this year. He tied for 13th in last years Deutsche Bank Championship.

Besides Woods (WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship), Singh (AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Shell Houston Open, HP Classic of New Orleans and PGA Championship), Scott (PLAYERS Championship, Booz Allen Classic) and Toms (FedEx St. Jude Classic), the field includes 2004 TOUR winners Heath Slocum (Chrysler Classic of Tucson), Zach Johnson (BellSouth Classic), Joey Sindelar (Wachovia Championship), Steve Flesch (Bank of America Colonial), Mark Hensby (John Deere Classic), Jonathan Byrd (B.C. Open) and Carlos Franco (U.S. Bank Championship of Milwaukee).

Also in the field is Rhode Island native and former Ryder Cupper Brad Faxon, who is joined in the New England contingent by Billy Andrade and Brett Quigley. Besides Singh, Scott, Hensby and Franco, the international contingent includes such stalwarts as Peter Lonard (Australia), Trevor Immelman (South Africa), Justin Rose (England) and Thomas Bjorn (Denmark).

Sponsor exemptions went to Casey Wittenberg, Camilo Villegas, James Driscoll and Phillip Price. Theyll join New England Section PGA qualifiers Mike Baker of Sugarloaf G.C. (Carrabassett, ME) and Jeff Martin of Alpine CC (Cranston, R.I.), who survived a three-hole playoff to earn the sections spots in the field.

Four more spots go to the top four finishers in Mondays open qualifier at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, Mass.

TOUR players do have 30 minutes after the completion of today's round at the Buick Invitational to commit to the Deutsche Bank Championship.

This has become one of the most popular events in New England, largely because of the high caliber of players who want to play here, Championship Director Jay Monahan said. With Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and John Daly in the field, we anticipate not only some incredible golf, but another sellout.

Come tournament time, all competitors in this world-class field could find themselves chasing one player: Scott, who shot a course-record 62 in the second round to set up his victory. Scotts first PGA TOUR victory came barely six weeks after his 23rd birthday. That made him one the youngest players ever to win on the PGA TOUR.

That presence is shared by Woods, who captured his 40th career PGA TOUR title this year when he defended his WGC-Accenture Match Play title. With more than $4.1 million in earnings this year, Woods is fourth on the money list, averaging more than $250,000 per start. He has finished in the top 25 in 15 of his 16 tournaments this season.

With five victories -- including his third career major -- and nearly $7 million already banked, Singh is enjoying another stellar season. He has 12 top-10 finishes and missed only one cut in 23 starts. Such is Singhs consistency that he has finished in the top 25 in 78 percent (18 of 23) of his starts.

Practice rounds for the Deutsche Bank Championship begin on Tuesday, August 31, and Wednesday, Sept. 1, with a pro-am competition on Thursday, Sept. 2.  The four-day Championship begins Friday, Sept. 3, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6. The first two rounds of the Championship will be covered on USA Network and the final two rounds will be televised on ABC-TV.
