What is Birdies for Charity? Birdies for Charity is an initiative that allows charities and/or non-profit organizations to utilize the Deutsche Bank Championship as a vehicle for fundraising. How does it work? The Deutsche Bank Championships Birdies for Charity program is a fun, easy, spirited and interactive way for local New England Charities to raise money in support of their cause. This multi-level fundraising program is designed to give participating charities the opportunity to generate contributions for their organization based on the number of birdies made by the contestants during the Deutsche Bank Championship. The program has two primary components: 1. Solicitation of pledges from individuals and/or corporations to specific charities. 2. Guess the Birdies contest. The Deutsche Bank Championships Birdies for Charity program allows you to be an advocate for your charity of choice. Charities receive 100% of all paid pledges solicited on their behalf. The primary goal of the Birdies for Charity program is to successfully solicit and collect pledges of one (1) cent or more from the general public and/or corporate donors for every birdie made during the Deutsche Bank Championship. In the event that the Deutsche Bank Championship is less than a 72-hole event, a $.01 donation will be valued at $10.00 (with other donations pro-rated accordingly). Participating charitable organizations must be approved by the Deutsche Bank Championship and must be a publicly supported charitable group recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization. These organizations will be selected based upon a likeness to the mission that the Tiger Woods Foundation has established. The Tiger Woods Foundation is the primary beneficiary of the Deutsche Bank Championship. In golf, a Birdie is a score of one stroke better than Par for any hole on the golf course. Par is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole.
