About the Pledge Process

Pledge solicitation can begin after May 1st, once a charity has received notification that their application was approved.  Pledges will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. on August 31st.

Each participating charity has the opportunity to solicit pledges of one (1) cent or more from individuals and/or corporations.  These charities, the Mother Birds will work directly with their membership to establish Birds.  A Bird is an individual who solicits pledges on behalf of a specific charity.  Since 100% of the donations collected through pledges goes directly to the charity, the more a Bird collects, the more his or her charity will receive.  Each charity will be responsible for collecting pledge money from their donors.

As an example, a Bird who raises 100 pledges at 1 cent each will raise approximately $1,400 for the charity of their choice.  The Deutsche Bank Championship averages about 1,400 birdies each year.

Each Birds goal is to raise, at a minimum, a total pledge of $1.00 or more for each birdie made during the championship.  Each charity or Mother Birds goal is to generate $10,000 of pledges.  That is 10 Birds each meeting their goal of $1.00 per birdie in total.

Some donors may wish to make a cash donation rather than a pledge.  This is acceptable based on the minimum donation of $10.  The donor will still have the opportunity to guess the number of birdies for prizes.  Solicitor should collect the donation and have the donor complete the on-line pledge form by filling in the straight donation portion rather than pledge a donation.

Each person who makes a pledge in the Birdies for Charity program will also have the opportunity to win the Grand Prize and/or First Place Prize by correctly guessing the exact number of birdies that will be made at the Deutsche Bank Championship.  One Grand Prize and one First Place Prize will be given to the individual(s) who guess correctly.  In the case of ties, winners will be selected randomly.  A no purchase necessary entry form will be available to be filled out at the Deutsche Bank Championship home office located at 300 Arnold Palmer Blvd. in Norton, MA.
