TWO-YEAR CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION REACHES $2.9 MILLION Norton, Mass., February 16, 2004 The 2004 edition of the Deutsche Bank Championship generated $1.4 million in charitable contributions for the year. The Championship and its charitable beneficiary Tiger Woods Foundation selected 12 New England-area charities and the Tiger Woods Learning Center of Anaheim, Calif., as recipients of the funds earlier this year. The sponsors, volunteers, fans and the players should be very proud to make such an impact in our community and across the country, said Championship Director Jay Monahan. Our goal is to make a difference in our community at large and that is what we have done. The Deutsche Bank Championship, the Tiger Woods Foundation and the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation in cooperation selected the Tiger Woods Learning Center and New England-area charities whose missions are in line with that of the Tiger Woods Foundation: to empower young people to reach their highest potential by initiating and supporting community based programs that promote the health, education and welfare of all of Americas children. The beneficiaries receiving donations are: the Tiger Woods Learning Center, the City of Boston Mayors Summer Jobs Program, Boston Ballets CityDance, Bottom Line, the Agassiz Village, Boston Cares, the Healthworks Foundation, the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, the Mansfield and Norton Communities, MGA Forekids Program, the Tournament Wives Association and the Boston Red Sox Foundation. Additionally, the CRESTOR Charity Challenge awarded the championships 54-hole leader Vijay Singh - with a $100,000 donation in his name. Through the program, the championship receives $50,000 and the TOUR player can allocate the other half to his charity of choice. Half of the donation went to the MGA ForeKids Program and half to the Florida Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund. "Charity is a very high priority for this Championship, and their enthusiasm for helping others is commendable, Tiger Woods said. Together, with my Foundation and the efforts of so many contributors to this event, we are making a real difference in the lives of thousands of children nationwide. "Deutsche Bank and all of our partners in this great event share the commitment and dedication it takes to achieve this kind of success," said Seth Waugh, CEO, Deutsche Bank Americas. "We have a particular focus on programs that help America's children so to contribute to the important work done by the Tiger Woods Foundation and these other worthy charities is very gratifying." ABOUT THE CHARITIES The Tiger Woods Learning Center is a 35,000-square-foot education facility located on 14 acres in Anaheim, California. Inside, the TWLC will house seven classrooms, a computer lab, caf, multi-media center and student lounge. The learning environment at the TWLC will focus on encouraging students to make positive changes in their lives. Through an interactive curriculum in math, science and language arts, students from diverse backgrounds will broaden their perspective of the world, explore their interests and investigate new possibilities for the future. The City of Boston Mayors Summer Jobs Program supports the placement of teens in community-based organizations throughout the City. Their placement ultimately provides services to thousands of Boston families in day camps, community centers, local non-profit organizations and day care centers. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and Greater Providence serve over 10,000 youth, primarily from disadvantaged circumstances, by providing a variety of program activities and support services. The programs offered are designed to assist in the educational, emotional, physical and social development of 6-to-18 year olds, without regard to social, racial, ethnic, or religious background. Boston Ballets CityDance is a scholarship dance program offered to Bostons third-grade students. It provides students of all socio-economic backgrounds the chance to learn various dance forms. Bottom Line was established as a resource for disadvantaged Boston youth to gain enrollment and graduate from college. The organization uses a three-pronged approach focused on access, transition and retention. This method has resulted in a 98% success rate in college acceptance and a greater than 80% success rate in Bottom Line alumni earning college degrees a rate more than double the national average for disadvantaged college students. Founded in 1935 and located in Poland, Maine, Agassiz Village is a non-profit residential summer camp that helps develop leadership and life skills to over 750 girls and boys ages 8-17. Villagers come from a range of racially, economically and socially diverse backgrounds and spend a portion of their summer being exposed to new skills and experiences in a positive and fun setting. The MGA ForeKids Golf Program and its junior development and enrichment facility, the MGA Links at Mamantapett, work to expand the game of golf to all segments of Massachusetts population. Named after the 1913 U.S. Open Champion and Massachusetts native, The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund is one of the largest independent scholarship organizations in New England. The Ouimet Fund was founded in 1949 and since that time has awarded more than $13.6 million in need-based college tuition assistance scholarships. The Boston Red Sox Foundation was established by the new owners of the team to benefit youth-based and health-based groups around New England. In addition to those youth-oriented organizations, the Deutsche Bank Championship selected Boston Cares and the Healthworks Foundation to receive donations. BostonCares is a non-profit group that provides volunteers to non-profit agencies around Greater Boston. The Healthworks Foundation promotes the health and empowerment of women and children from all cultural and economic backgrounds, through fitness outreach efforts, scholarship programs, and many community-based efforts.
