NORTON, Mass., May 16, 2006 To complement the extensive charitable efforts already in place, the Deutsche Bank Championship is embarking on a new charitable challenge for the 2006 season.  The Birdies for Charity program is an initiative that allows charities to utilize and leverage professional golf as a vehicle for fundraising. The program has enjoyed success at several PGA TOUR events and has proven to be a favorite among golf fans.

The Deutsche Bank Championship is launching the Birdies for Charity Program on Monday, May 15 and it will run through Wednesday, Aug. 31. This newly adopted program continues to emphasize the Deutsche Bank Championships commitment to the community.

The Deutsche Bank Championship is thrilled to be involved with the Birdies for Charity program, said Eric Baldwin, Championship Director for the Deutsche Bank Championship.  This program allows us to connect with the charities we have supported in a new and creative way, while continuing to raise dollars for their cause. It also allows us to continue our efforts to be good corporate citizens and make an impact in our own local community.

The 15 participating charities for the 2006 Birdies for Charity program include: Agassiz Village; Artists for Humanity; Boston Cares; Bottom Line; Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston; Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence; First Tee of Massachusetts; G-Row Boston; Healthworks Foundation; Hockomock Area YMCA; Mass Mentoring; Norton/Attleboro YMCA; St. Marys Women & Childrens Center; Tiger Woods Foundation and Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (YEA).

All of the participating charities selected share a similar mission to the Tiger Woods Foundation and the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation. Collectively, the two organizations support community based programs that promote health, education and welfare of our youth as well as initiatives that support the arts, education, environment and community development.

The Birdies for Charity Program is a multi-level fundraising program designed to give participating charities the opportunity to generate contributions for their organization based on the number of birdies made by PGA TOUR professionals during the Deutsche Bank Championship

Much like a walk-a-thon, the Birdies for Charity program allows each charity to collect pledges for every birdie scored during this years Championship. Charities participating in the Deutsche Bank Championships 2006 Birdies for Charity program will receive 100% of all paid pledges solicited on their behalf.

Each participating charity has the opportunity to solicit pledges of one (1) cent or more from individuals and/or corporations for every "birdie" made by a PGA Tour Professional during the Deutsche Bank Championship.  These charities, the "Mother Birds" will work directly with their membership to establish "Birds."  A "Bird" is an individual who solicits pledges on behalf of a specific charity.  Since 100% of the donations collected go directly to each charity, the more a "Bird" collects, the more his or her charity will receive.

As an added bonus, each person who makes a pledge in the Birdies for Charity program will have the opportunity to win one of two great prizes. Participants who correctly guess the number of birdies that made by PGA TOUR professionals during the four competition rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship could win the Grand Prize of Two Season Tickets to the 2007 Boston Red Sox.

The First Place prize will be selected by random drawing of all eligible entries. The First Place prize is an all-expense paid trip to the 2007 Tiger Jam, which includes a special golf clinic with Tiger, a round of golf, accommodations, airfare and VIP passes to an exclusive concert and after party.

To participate in the Birdies for Charity program, please visit our website at www.dbchampionship.com and click the Birdies for Charity icon on the home page. This will be an on-line program only and it is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4 to get involved. Step 1 Get on-line, Step 2 Select a charity, Step 3 Enter a pledge and Step 4 Guess the number of birdies.

The Deutsche Bank Championship successfully reached its goal in 2005 and raised a record $1.6 million for the Tiger Woods Foundation and the New England charities.  Since its inaugural 2003 event, the Championship has raised a total of $4.5 million.  Charities would like to be considered as a candidate for future programs should contact the tournament office.
