There is no question that 2004 was an extraordinary year at IMG. We are proud of the many achievements of our clients, our events and our staff during the year and look forward to continuing our record of excellence into the future. Specific accomplishments include: TWI:
� TWI was appointed host broadcaster for the 15th Asian Games � Doha 2006. The event, to be held in Doha, Qatar, from 1 �15 December 2006, will be the biggest Outside Broadcast Operation (where all the equipment has to be brought to the site on a temporary basis) the world has ever seen. It is an enormous logistics operation involving 45 countries from all over Asia taking part in 40 different sports (also making it the largest multi-sport event ever, with even more sports than are contested in the Olympics). The event will require that more than 1,000 production staff and hundreds of tons of broadcasting equipment be transported into Doha.
� TWI was appointed host broadcaster for Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, which will feature over 4,500 elite athletes from 72 countries competing from 15-26 March.
� TWI was re-appointed (along with IMG) as commercial brokers for the Rugby World Cups 2007 and 2011, cementing our previous 12-year-relationship with the IRB (International Rugby Board). Last year�s event generated a global TV audience of 3.5 billion. � TWI was re-appointed overseas production and distribution partner for England's Football Association Premier League for the next three years. TWI Radio signed a deal to provide match action to 120 channels across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean via its inaugural deal with digital satellite radio provider Sirius, which will open up the Premiership for millions of new fans for the first time.
� TWI added Chelsea TV, Liverpool TV and Arsenal TV to its existing roster, which already includes Manchester United TV (seen in more than 40 countries globally).
TWI Non-sport programming
� Original TWI entertainment format I'd Do Anything, which has run for two series on the BBC in the UK, notched up sales or options in another 25 countries around the world, including Russia�s largest public state broadcaster, TV Channel Russia (RTR), and ESPN in the U.S.
� TWI signed 11 Olympic medallists from Athens 2004 to star in the second BBC series production of Superstars. � Sales for TWI�s In Colour documentary series exceeded the USD10 million barrier with the VE Day In Colour commission for ITV1, the largest commercial channel in the UK. Worldwide sales have risen dramatically, including for the forthcoming Hitler In Colour.
� Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion and Keeping Hope in Motion was a landmark experience. TWI was the only production company to have had exclusive access to the late actor during his struggle to walk again. As a result, TWI delivered two moving documentaries, the latter transmitted on BBC1 two weeks after he succumbed to a fatal infection.
� TWI won a commission to produce an Academy Awards preview show, called the Oscars 2005 for Sky in February, including a preview show and an extended highlights package.
� At Miss World 2004, TWI Interactive technology enabled the public to decide the winner for the first time in the contest's 54-year-old history. Millions voted via the Internet for their favorite, and Miss Peru was the winner. TWI was appointed distributor and joint production company for the event. A total of 147 countries (49 more than last year) and an estimated 2.7 billion viewers worldwide tuned into the event.
� IMG clients Michael Schumacher and Ronaldo took part in this year�s Match Against Poverty on 14 December in Madrid. They joined soccer aces David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Raul, Patrick Kluivert, Luis Figo and Alan Shearer in a match refereed by world-famous Pierluigi Collina designed to raise funds for anti-poverty projects across the world. Ronaldo and Zidane, both Goodwill Ambassadors of the United Nationals Development Programme (UNDP), each captained a team. The event, which is supported by FIFA, promotes the Millennium Development Goals endorsed by governments at the UN in 2000, which also sets targets for reducing hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women by 2015. TWI was the international rights holders for the game, which was screened live and exclusively on the Flextech-owned men's entertainment channel Bravo in the UK.
Golf:
IMG Golf�s position atop the industry remains undisputed. IMG golf represents the top four male golfers in the world (Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Reteif Goosen), seven of the top ten, and eleven of the top 25. Among the women, IMG Golf represents the top ranked Annika Sorenstam, British Women�s Open Champion Karen Stupples and has just signed the exciting new prospect Paula Creamer. Client Achievements � IMG�s male clients won 12 of the last 16 major championships and won 80 events overall last year (compared to 40 in 2003). � IMG�s female clients have won eleven of the past 16 major championships and won 15 events last year overall (they also won 15 events in 2003). � Vijay Singh won the PGA Championship and eight other events to take over the World Number 1 ranking. � Annika Sorenstam won 10 of the 20 events in which she played. � The victorious European Ryder Cup Team�s record-breaking victory over the U.S. at Oakland Hills, Michigan, included IMG Golf clients Bernhard Langer (Captain), Thomas Bjorn (Assistant Captain), Colin Montgomerie, Sergio Garcia, Thomas Levet, Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington. � On his way to becoming the Champions Tour (seniors) �2004 Rookie of the Year,� Mark McNulty won the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, SBC Championship and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Recruitment � IMG Golf signed Ernie Els, Lee Slattery (winner of the 2004 Challenge Tour rankings) and two of Europe's leading amateurs in 2004 - Sam Osborne and Ross Fisher. Tournaments � IMG Golf negotiated the official sanction by the European Tour for Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points for the 2004 HSBC World Match Play, which is in its 41st year and still offers the richest first prize in the world of golf - �1 million. Golf Consulting/Golf Course Services � IMG Golf Advisory was commissioned to develop a balanced, national golf strategy, outlining the requirements for developing the sport of golf in Ukraine, including a complete development structure for the sport as well as the support framework that would need to be put in place for such a strategy to work effectively. Particular focus was given to the exploitation and realization of one particular site in Kiev. � The contract to design Ukraine�s first ever golf course in Kiev has been signed for Colin Montgomerie in association with IMG�s European Golf Design. � IMG Golf Advisory has also been retained by the Watermark project (a residential complex in the UK with comprehensive sports facilities) to provide consultancy support on all sporting aspects of the development. � Ian Woosnam Design, working with European Golf Design, has signed a deal to design two new golf courses in Bulgaria with the developer Barage. The two spectacular sites are in the Bansko ski area in southwest Bulgaria and the Balchik area on the Black Sea, where the courses and attendant facilities will be built in conjunction with hotels and residential components. � A deal for two championship golf courses, a Championship Links and a Championship Parklands golf course in South Africa at Lagoon Bay, has been signed for Retief Goosen, who is designing the course in association with Phil Jacobs. The courses at Lagoon Bay Lifestyle Estate are situated on the internationally renowned Garden Route area of South Africa, which is also endorsed by Retief Goosen. � Colin Montgomerie has been signed to design an 18-hole golf course at the Rublevka golf and leisure facility in Moscow, Russia. Also included will be a David Leadbetter Golf Academy. Tennis: Client Achievements: � Three of the four Grand Slam singles winners in women's tennis were IMG clients: Anastasia Myskina (Roland Garros), Maria Sharapova (Wimbledon), and Svetlana Kuznetsova (US Open). � Lindsay Davenport finished the year with the #1 ranking in women's tennis. She achieved a 63-9 win-loss match record and won seven tournaments, including the Tier 1 events at Tokyo and San Diego. She won more than $2.2 million in prize money during the year. � Four of the eight women who qualified for the WTA Tour Championships were IMG clients (Lindsay Davenport, Anastasia Myskina, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Maria Sharapova). Three of the eight men who qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup were IMG clients (Carlos Moya, Tim Henman, and Guillermo Coria). � Two IMG "future stars" made significant breakthroughs in 2004: Nicole Vaidisova, at age 15, become the first rookie ever to win two WTA Tour events She finished the year ranked #77 in the world and is the youngest player ranked in the top 100 players. Donald Young, at age 15, reached the singles final at the world's most important junior tournament, the Orange Bowl, in the eighteen-and-under division. He finished 2004 ranked #2 in the ITF rankings. (Sneak preview: Young just became the youngest Grand Slam winner of all time by winning the Australian Open Juniors in Jan. �05). � IMG Tennis capitalized on Maria Sharapova's record-setting accomplishments on the tennis court to create a new marketing champion off the court. Within five months of her upset win at Wimbledon, IMG concluded marketing deals for Maria with some of the best global brands, including Motorola, Canon, Tag Heuer, Nike and Prince. Her new line of perfume will debut soon and two Japan-only announcements (including Honda) are set for the First Quarter of 2005. To complete her year, Maria received $1 million for winning the season-ending WTA Tour Championships, boosting her prize money total for 2004 to $2.5 million. � IMG Tennis client John McEnroe had a record career year in 2004 as he hosted his own nightly prime-time talk show "McEnroe" on CNBC, provided expert tennis commentary for the NBC, CBS, USA, BBC, and Channel 7 television networks, participated in ATP Tour of Champions tournaments and tennis exhibition events throughout the world, authored a monthly column for the Sunday Telegraph newspaper in London, England, participated in corporate speaking engagements and corporate appearances for companies such as American Express, Satyam, GE, Insight Investments, Sunspell, etc., managed "The John McEnroe Gallery" in New York City, appeared in numerous television shows and two major motion pictures: Anger Management (with Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler) and Wimbledon, worked on behalf of the LTA to promote "The Ariel Ace Tennis Initiative" and other player development programs, donated considerable time and financial resources to a variety of charities through his "John McEnroe Foundation", and was featured in corporate endorsement deals for Nike, Dunlop, Kellogg's Smart Start, Vasakronin, Mars Delight, Ariel, DZ Bank and Travelex. Global Sponsorships: � IMG Tennis acted as the WTA Tour's agent to conclude the just announced long-term $88 million agreement that makes Sony Ericsson the worldwide title sponsor of the WTA Tour. The deal is the largest and most comprehensive sponsorship in the history of tennis and of women's professional sports. Under the terms of the arrangement, which will be Sony Ericsson's first global sponsorship, Sony Ericsson will become the global title sponsor of the WTA Tour and of the season-ending, globally televised WTA Tour Championships held each November and featuring the world's top eight singles players and top doubles teams. Sony Ericsson will also enjoy a significant on-court presence at the many WTA Tour tournaments throughout the season. Tournaments: � IMG Tennis created a new relationship between the All England Lawn Tennis Club and American Express in 2004. To enhance American Express� position as the official supplier of credit cards for The Championships, IMG Tennis contracted with a number of IMG clients, including Venus Williams, Monica Seles and John McEnroe, to make appearances on behalf of the brand. � IMG Tennis conceived and implemented a plan for a three-city exhibition tour featuring Venus and Serena Williams. Besides the feature match, special on-court entertainment and junior matches, the McDonald's Williams Sisters Tour included special community initiatives in Detroit, Chicago and Atlanta through which the sisters interacted with young fans and raised funds for the Ronald McDonald Houses in each region. � The NASDAQ-100 Open celebrated its 20th year by crowning Serena Williams and Andy Roddick champions. The tournament, attended by over 250,000 fans, was televised to over 150 countries and drew media to the site from 34 different countries around the world. � IMG Tennis created a new Delta Tour of Champions event in Paris in October of 2004. Led by IMG client Guy Forget, the Troph�e Jean-Luc Lagard�re exceeded the title sponsor's expectations and enabled the French crowds once again to experience the special talents of John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Jim Courier and other tennis legends. � IMG Tennis managed a new ATP Tour event in Valencia, Spain, owned by IMG client and ATP star Juan Carlos Ferrero. The eight-player Torneig de Tenis Illes Baleiris was played on a special clay court that IMG tennis constructed on the beach of Santa Ponsa. � IMG Tennis, in partnership with the Spanish Tennis Federation, designed, implemented and sold the VIP hospitality program at the Davis Cup final in Seville. The Spanish team, led by IMG clients Carlos Moya, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and Rafael Nadal, won the Davis Cup by defeating the USA team. IMG Tennis sold sponsorship of the event and TWI produced a highlights show. Licensing: � IMG Licensing grew Major League Baseball (MLB) licensing business in Japan from 49 licensees to 60 licensees. � IMG Licensing received the Licensing Industry Merchandisers� Association (LIMA) Award for Best Sports/Special Events Brand License of the Year for the MLB Licensing Program in Japan. � IMG Licensing expanded IMG�s management of the Wimbledon Shop from a two-week per year merchandising operation to a year-round activity. Also included will be the operation and expansion of the on-site Wimbledon Museum Shop. � IMG Licensing signed four major licensees for U.S. licensing client Vera Bradley: Drexel Heritage (furniture); Charles Sadek (tabletop); Ricardo Beverly Hills (structural luggage); and Lifeguard Press (stationery, social expressions). Academies � IMG Academies Bharata (IMGB), a wholly owned subsidiary of IMG Academies East (IMGE), has entered into a unique public/private sector agreement to develop a world-class athletic training, education, leisure and resort complex in Hyderabad, one of the fastest growing cities in India. IMGE and IMGB are exclusive licensees of IMG Academies in the region (but are not owned by IMG). IMGB, modeled after the successful IMG Academies in the United States, begins operations in 2006 and will offer the finest in academic education, sports and recreation facilities and sports medicine. � IMG Academies' Basketball Academy opened a new two-court facility on August 1, 2004. The new facility features two NCAA regulation hardwood floors with eight shooting stations. It was the summer training home to over 50 professional basketball players including Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Al Harrington, Jared Jeffries and Larry Hughes. Under the same roof, a newly renovated International Performance Institute grew to approximately 10,000 square feet and added 22 new pieces of equipment, additional offices, five more training tables and an expansion of its Sports Medicine space. � Julieta Granada of IMG Academies' David Leadbetter Golf Academy was recently named the 2004 AJGA/Rolex Junior Player of the Year. Granada has been training at the Academy for three years, and she is the fifth consecutive DLGA student to receive this award. Previous DLGA winners include: Paula Creamer (2003), Steve Han (2002), Casey Wittenberg (2001) and Aree Song (2000). � More than 60 soccer teams and 1,200 junior tennis players from around the world competed in the Nike Friendlies and the Eddie Herr International events at the Academies in December. The 4th inaugural Nike Friendlies attracted elite club soccer teams from 17 states and two countries and featured over 100 games. The game between USA U-17 and Australia aired on Fox Sports World, Saturday, December 11. The Eddie Herr International, a Grade 1 ITF event, included age divisions for 12, 14, 16 and 18 year-old boys and girls. Past champions include Maria Sharapova, Xavier Malisse, Anna Kournikova and Andy Roddick. � IMG Academies� Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy students have had a major impact on the ATP, WTA and ITF Tours in 2004. Tommy Haas won the Mercedes-Benz Cup and the U.S. Clay Court Championships by defeating Andy Roddick in the final. Maria Sharapova won five WTA Tour titles including Wimbledon and the WTA Year-End Championships. At the French Open, Xavier Malisse teamed with Olivier Rochus to win the Men�s Doubles Title, and Sesil Karatantcheva won the Junior Girls� Singles Title. Fifteen-year-old Nicole Vaidisova became the first player in history to win two WTA Tour Titles (Vancouver and Tashkent) in her first year on the Tour. Events & Federations: � For the 19th year, IMG is proud to present Smucker's Stars on Ice. This year, the tour will feature Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes and an all-star cast of Olympic and World Champions as it tours to 72 cities in North America, as well as shows in Belgium and Japan. It was also featured on a prime time TV special broadcast in January on NBC and again in March on A&E. � Events & Federations concluded the largest Commercial Ticketing (Hospitality and Travel) contract in Rugby history on behalf of the IRB with SODEXHO (one of the world largest food service companies) for RWC 2007. � Events & Federations welcomed a record crowd of 350,000 people to Indycar Australia in 2004 and the event produced a record profit to IMG. � Events & Federations staged the Centenary of the Australian Open Golf at The Australian Golf Club in Sydney, with special guest of honor and IMG client, Arnold Palmer. � Events & Federations created the Ironman Western Australian Triathlon, IMG�s second triathlon in the country, thereby making Australia the only country outside of the U.S. to have two Ironman events. Nearly 900 competitors participated in the inaugural Western Australian Triathlon, an extraordinary number for a first time event and this on top of Ironman Australia's continued growth to its capacity of 1,550 competitors, resulting in substantial profits across both events. � Events & Federations renewed International Skating Union (ISU) representation for all (14) annual ISU Championships. Fashion: � IMG Fashion staged the inaugural "Fashion Fringe" event in London in October to great critical success. This event identifies the UK's best emerging fashion designers. � IMG Fashion partnered with Smashbox Studios to create Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles. � IMG Fashion negotiated for Olympus to become the title sponsor of the New York Shows, now named Olympus Fashion Week. � IMG Fashion developed the first-ever swimwear shows in Miami with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and announced Sunglass Hut as the title sponsor of the Sunglass Hut Swim Shows Miami presented by Lycra. � IMG Fashion added Toronto Fashion Week and Tokyo Collection Week to the portfolio of fashion weeks with whom IMG Fashion/7th on Sixth consults. Consulting: � IMG Consulting worked with client Verizon to extend its presence in the entertainment sector by negotiating and implementing the 30-city Ladies First Tour featuring Beyonce, Alicia Keyes and Missy Elliott and a series of Elton John concerts at Radio City Music Hall. � IMG Consulting built an open-air rugby festival for client 02 in London. The highlight of the festival was the first ever public training session by the Rugby World Cup winning England team. More than 15,000 people attended and took part in tournaments, free coaching, interactive games and autograph signing sessions. � IMG Consulting worked with ABN AMRO to prepare for its two-boat assault on the Volvo Ocean Race 2005/06, the most prestigious round the world yacht race. Work included securing a commitment from Volvo that the race will visit Holland (ABN AMRO�s headquarters site), advising on skipper selections, running graphics design competitions for the hull and sails and consulting on television and web production. � IMG Consulting client Volkswagen Group China has become the Official Automobile Partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the culmination of nearly two years of effort involving IMG offices around the world. In 2002, VW retained IMG to educate the company about Olympic marketing and to recommend and construct its bid offer, write and produce their presentation materials, and negotiate their agreement with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games. � In January 2004, IMG Consulting was hired by GE to activate its new eight-year worldwide Olympic TOP sponsorship. The assignment consists of devising an Olympic activation strategy customized for each GE business, creating Olympic tools for internal and external GE marketers, and leading and communicating Olympic leveraging activities in key markets around the world. This is GE's first-ever global sponsorship and IMG's first-ever Olympic TOP sponsor client. � In July 2004, IMG Consulting was appointed sponsorship marketing agency of record for DHL, the global leader in delivery and logistics, following a competitive agency review. The assignment calls for IMG Consulting to direct development and implementation of a comprehensive sports and entertainment marketing strategy for DHL in the United States. Clients: � Athens All Around gold medal gymnast Carly Patterson has enjoyed considerable post-Games success. She has had her own television special �Carly Patterson, Life After Gold,� produced by TWI; has new corporate relationships with Tyson, the American Dental Association, Ford and GK Gymnastics apparel; and will have a book published in 2005 as well as a phone game. � Daron Rahlves became the most successful U.S. downhill ski racer in history with six podium finishes on the World Cup Downhill circuit in 2004. � A headline-making, all-time record deal was negotiated by IMG Football (U.S.). The landmark $98 million, seven-year contract for quarterback Peyton Manning with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League provided the league's MVP with the largest player contract ever signed in NFL history. It also included a record $34.5 million signing bonus. � Eli Manning, the top pick in the 2004 National Football League draft, agreed to a six-year, $54 million contract with the New York Giants. The deal included a record $20 million in guaranteed money, the most ever for a rookie, and the second largest in NFL history (behind the contract signed by his brother Peyton) � IMG Football negotiated the largest running back contract in NFL history for San Diego Charger LaDainian Tomlinson. At $7.5 million per year for eight years, the $60 million contract includes a $21 million guarantee, which is the most ever received by an NFL running back. � IMG Football negotiated a seven-year contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts on behalf of wide receiver Marvin Harrison. The deal is worth $67 million and includes $23 million in guaranteed money. � Overall in 2004, IMG Football negotiated five of the six contracts in NFL history in which the financial guarantees were over $20 million (for Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marvin Harrison and Chad Pennington of the New York Jets). The sixth contract was negotiated by IMG Football in 2003 (for Simeon Rice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). � IMG Broadcasting clients John Madden and Bob Costas continued to dominate their fields at the Sports Emmy Awards. Madden received his 14th award, voted Outstanding Sports Personality - Sports Event Analyst. Costas took home his 15th award, and was named Outstanding Sports Personality - Studio Host. � IMG Broadcasting negotiated a deal for Billy Bush to become co-host of Access Hollywood on NBC. � After he resigned as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, IMG Broadcasting negotiated a deal for Hubie Brown to become the lead analyst of the NBA on ABC. � IMG Literary sold book rights for two books by sportscaster Len Berman, best known for NBC's "Spanning the World� sports segments. One book is entitled Spanning The World. The other, The World's Weirdest, Wackiest Sports Stories, is a children�s book. � IMG Literary brokered a deal with N.Y. and UK-based publisher DK for Venus and Serena Williams to publish the sisters' first book, "How to Play Tennis," released last summer to coincide with Wimbledon in the UK and U.S. Open in the U.S. The hardcover book, with over 700 photographs, offered instruction and inspiration and included personal anecdotes and advice for readers ages eight and up. � IMG Baseball had five first-round draft picks in the 2004 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. This marked the fourth consecutive year that IMG Baseball had more first round picks than any other agency. � IMG Baseball negotiated over $85 million in free agent contracts for clients Richie Sexson (Mariners), Eric Milton (Reds), Dustin Hermanson (White Sox), Kent Mercker (Reds) and Jamey Wright (Rockies). � IMG Coaches negotiated a $12.4 million deal for Tom Coughlin, the new head coach of the New York Giants, and a $10.5 million deal for Dennis Green, the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals (NFL). IMG Arts and Entertainment: The IMG Arts & Entertainment Division in Europe presented 63 nights of entertainment in 2004 and sold over 250,000 tickets. These events took place in the English Heritage stately homes Kenwood, Marble Hill & Audley End; Hampton Court Palace; Althorp; Faenol in North Wales; Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna and a Spanish Riding School tour of Germany, Switzerland and Holland. Some of the artists who performed in the concerts included Van Morrison, Bryn Terfel, Joaquin Cortes, Bryan Ferry, Jamie Cullum, Jose Carreras and Jools Holland. Also, Norah Jones gave her only UK outdoor concert at Princess Diana's family home Althorp. The Gypsy Kings performance at Kenwood will be released on DVD worldwide this fall. Waitrose have signed a long term renewal of their Title Sponsorship of the Hampton Court Palace Festival and MG Rover have signed for Title Sponsorship of the 2005 concerts at English Heritage, Althorp and Tatton Park. The A&E Division has won the rights to create and operate an outdoor ice rink at The Natural History Museum in London for nine weeks every year starting this Christmas.
